Migrations

BluTek consultants have a very deep understanding of the underlying components used by IBM Content Manager (CM) and IBM Document Manager (DM). Using this knowledge and extensive experience writing programs using Java and the CM APIs, our consultants have created utilities to work with and migrate content stored in CM-based systems. The BluTek CM Migration Utility is designed to efficiently move documents between Content Manager-based systems and can also export content to a file share and data file, e.g. CSV formatted file. This utility features:

• Faster relocation of documents between systems – Move millions* of documents over a weekend, not weeks or months
• Move as many or as few as needed in a batch – Tailor the batches to any size by using one or more attributes of documents
• Map security access control lists (ACL) – Keep the same ACLs in the new system or map existing security to ACLs
• Preserve audit logs from DM – Documents retain their audit log information in the new system
• Preserve document versioning – Migrate all versions of a document or just the latest version
• Preserve document foldering – Documents located in static folders can be placed into a same set of static folders in the new system
• Preserve metadata – Map existing metadata to the same fields in the new system or make changes to fields by modifying lengths or removing some of the old data.

We also have extensive experience writing API programs for DM using the .NET Framework. Utilities include a program designed to rebuild compound document links, and a performance utility, and a tool designed to monitor the status of a DM-based system.
